518 "EXPRESS"

The 518 bus service is a schizophrenic one.
There are 3 versions: 518, 518A and 518B.
It travels along the main town places like Orchard, Plaza Sing, City Hall, Suntec, and brings us back to the east: Bedok, Tamp, Pasir Ris.

By the way, it’s full name is 518 EXPRESS.

518 covers the entire route
518A skips bedok (only available during peak periods)
518B terminates at tamp ave 7 bus stop
(I only realized yesterday)

The only time I take the bus home is after work. I usually wait for as long as from 615 – 7 for the bus to come. So far, within this time frame, only one of the 3 versions will come. It may be 518, 518A, or 518B. RANDOM I guess.

The first time I took 518 from far east, it took almost 90 min (excludes waiting time) for me to get home. EXPRESS???

Another time I waited for 45 min for the bus to come. I knocked off at 630 I reached home at almost 9pm!

Another time it broke down in the middle of ECP. Imagine waiting for the next bus to come while standing along ECP!

Last evening I was chased down the bus by the driver at Tamp Ave 7. I thought he was rushing home to watch Superband. No. He took out the bus route board (there was a deck of them!!!!) and showed it to me. It said “terminates at Tamp Ave 7” Bewildering!!

The bus fare was more than $2 because it is an EXPRESS bus. And I had to spend more money and time to take another bus home!

So this 518 has 3 versions, different availability periods, different terminal stops, and from my experience, they come randomly at 30-45 min interval.

WHAT KIND OF BUS SERVICE IS THIS?!?!??!?!
